In addition to quarterly seminars for our clients, we host conference days, usually in London, in partnership with City institutions which give an in-depth look at current themes in the world of finance. Our top economists give their forecasts alongside prominent business figures.

The Turning Point - Black Wednesday and the rebirth of the British economy

A full day seminar co-hosted with The Churchill Archives Centre, bringing together prominent members of the British economic establishment. This was an historic day of recollection, anecdotes and opinion from the moment when sterling went into freefall as it crashed out of the Exchange Rate Mechanism. The event was the first of its kind to bring together so many of the key figures of the time and created a unique record of one of the most defining financial occurences in our history.

The Green Debate: a case of confusing signals?

A morning event staged at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London SW1. Our speakers debated the conclusions of the Stern Report and debated whether global warming presents a real threat and the implications for global markets. Our Chief Economist, Charles Dumas, was joined by Martin Wolf, Chief Economics Commentator of the Financial Times and Professor Brian Hoskins CBE,FRS, of Reading University.

Energy, economics, investment and risk in China and Russia

A two-day event, featuring senior figures from the energy industries and analysts with specialist knowledge in these regions.The programme provided economic background and forecasts for the region and information on the potential gains and pitfalls for investors.
