Mr Charles Dumas, our Chairman and Chief Economist, will debate key issues and prospects for the European economy with Mr Holger Schmieding, Chief European Economist for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, a notable expert on the continental economies.

The questions we will be posing include:

Are intra-European imbalances a major contributor to the stress evidenced in government debt markets by the Greek crisis?

What does this mean for European nations, as well as the whole European project?

Are European imbalances to a degree “locked in” by the Economic and Monetary Union, together with cost, price – and even growth – divergences?
