After "Big Bang" in 1986, the structure of the gilt-edged market changed forever. This event, which was held in the Bank of England by kind permission of the Governor, Mervyn King, examined how the old gilt-edged market operated in practice. The event contributed greatly to historical knowledge by putting first hand experience on record about an arcane structure.

Contributors included officials from the Bank of England, Government brokers, jobbers, stock brokers and gilt-edged investment managers who all worked within the old structure. Lord George of St Tudy • Professor Gordon Pepper • Forrest Capie • Sir Nigel Althaus • Tony Coleby • Rodney Offer • Alistair Buchanan • Peter Wills • Geoffrey Wood • George Nissen • Pat Phillips • Bob Walther • Michael Deakin • Ranald Michie
